Week 47, Volume 47

Judge Thyself

Patrick Henry once said: “I know of no way of judging the future but by the past.”

Most recently, at the finish of each day, I have created a practice of quiet self-evaluation.  Each morning I fill my journal with business, personal, physical and spiritual goals for that day. If I fail to complete and achieve my goals, I feel I have failed. And, I would continue this loop of disappointment of letting myself down.

I started to actually judge myself, hold myself more consciously committed to my goals, creating accountability to always achieve 100% compliance knowing that this is the only possible way that I will achieve my goals. For too long I knew what needed to be done. I knew what to do. I believed if I stayed focused I would excel. But knowing and doing are worlds apart.

Edgar Cayce summed it up appropriately: “To know, and not do, becomes sin.” Truth to be of any worth has to be lived, not simply believed. Judge yourself accordingly.
