Excuses be gone!

As we approach the heels of an upcoming New Year, wouldn’t this be an excellent time to pause and meditate with deep reflection on the past year. We are all likely to be coming up with possibilities for the next twelve months; unfulfilled dreams, aspirations and ambitions can easily be catapulted into 2018 if nothing we do changes.

Cam Newton was quoted as saying: “I hate Excuses. Excuses are a disease.” And, like any disease, if not treated it can be life threatening, life threatening in the respect that we are a physical living being but truly failing at being alive.

I hope we can all take the necessary time to confront what has been minimizing our greatness. Grant Cardone said: “Excuses are never the reason for why you did or didn’t do something. They’re just a revision of the facts that you can make up in order to help yourself feel better about what happened or didn’t.” Excuses only mask the underlying issue. Our fault is not to take full responsibility for where we are presently in life as we can quickly turn ourselves from one who endures and persists to becoming the success we know we are capable of, or fold and lapse into a state of being the victim. Mark Twain once said: “There are a thousand excuses for failure, but never a good reason.”

Take time to step back and reflect, meditate and evaluate. Ask the hard questions. No, ask difficult, complex and even painful questions. Excuses will never improve your situation. So, 2018, excuses be gone.
